The media statement is given by ADUN Canning YB Wong Kah Woh on 26th December 2010 at Ipoh:

The masonry wall of drain at Taman Cempaka Main Road (Jalan Sri Cempaka) has collapsed on the eve of Christmas Day. I have received phone calls from the residents at around 7pm and notified me over the same.

We have visited the scene at the same night and the cause was of the incident was due to the increasing underground water pressure. There was signs of cracking on the road weeks ago but the MBI had chosen to ignore the complaints from the residents.

We have again visited the place on the second day and met with the MBI Contractors. It was given to understand that the repair works will take around 1 week time.

We urge the MBI to take proactive role in attending to the complaints by the residents. This incident might not happen if the MBI had attended to the residents complaints earlier.
