The DAP ADUN Canning Action Team had visited Kg Simee Market and received overwhelming response whereby more than 650 calendars were distributed within 2 hours to the public and traders.

On the issue of reconstruction of Kg Simee Market, we urged the MBI to listen to the voice and the wish of the Rakyat and the traders before any decision is made.

I together with YB Lim Kit Siang had conducted a survey on the issue of reconstruction of the market back in 2009 and the result had been submitted to Ipoh Mayor. However, there was no concrete reply from MBI.

I have questioned the State Government in the last state sitting on the issue whether the MBI is willing to listen to the views of the Rakyat and the traders before decision is made. There was again no direct reply from the State Government. The State Government seems to have wanted the project be proceeded without taking into consideration the views from the public as they have replied me that there is no plan to improve the ventilation and electricity supply problem in the market as there is a project so scheduled.

The State Government had once accused the elected reps for "politicize" the issue of market reconstruction especially the one in Gunung Rapat. It is to be noted with deep regret that the State Government had again failed to appreciate the hardship and worries faced by the public for the reconstruction. We maintain the stand that whether the any market should be reconstructed as a whole or merely renovated from part to part, shall be decided by the Rakyat and the traders as they are the one being affected the most.
