Press Statement by YB Wong Kah Woh, Perak DAPSY Chief cum Canning State Assemblyman on 08.01.2011 (Saturday) in Ipoh after visiting Taman Cempaka Market:

The MACC is duty bound to furnish a conclusive explanation to Beng Hock’s family and the Rakyat as the Coroner had made a finding of fact that Beng Hock’s neck injuries were inflicted before his fall from the MACC Head Office.

The finding by the Coroner in his open verdict cast further doubt on the sudden death of the late Sdr Teoh Beng Hock 18 months ago while under the custody of MACC.

The open verdict by the Coroner is a disappointing result after which the family and the Rakyat were expecting or at least waiting for justice to be done after a long wait of 18 months.

We also note with deep regret that the investigation of the cause of death of Beng Hock was not included as part of the terms of reference of the Royal Commission announced by the Prime Minister yesterday. We will not accept if the death of Beng Hock to remain a mystery. How could a 30 years old young man who was expecting his marriage on the second day and a baby months later, to be found death at the MACC Building while under the custody of MACC? The culprit must be brought to the Court of law.

The sincerity of the BN Government in finding out the truth is also highly doubted. The PM through the Attorney General Chambers had lodged a review against the Coroner’s verdict. We wonder if the Government is just waiting for the end result of “suicide verdict” by the Court of law.
